Was India-Bangladesh Match Fixed in ICC 2015?
The International Cricket Council's Bangladeshi president has threatened to quit over the umpiring in his country's World Cup quarter-final defeat to India, suggesting the match appeared to have been fixed. Mustafa Kamal told Bangladeshi reporters in Melbourne after Thursday's match at the MCG that he would raise the issue at the ICC's next meeting, saying the umpires' decisions seemed to have been "pre-arranged".
India emphatically won the quarterfinal match against Bangladesh by 109 runs thanks to opening batsman Rohit Sharma’s ferocious 137 runs in 126 balls. However, Rohit Sharma was caught when he was on 90, where umpires Aleem Dar and Ian Gould signalled it as a no-ball for being above the waist height.
Replays suggested that Rubel Hossain’s ball was infact below the waist line and the correct decision was supposed to be out. Dave Richardson defended the ICC umpires saying that it was a “50-50 call” and that the match official’s integrity cannot be questioned as the spirit of the game dictates that the umpire’s decision is final and must be respected.
A disappointed Kamal, gave his statement to the reporters in Melbourne that "As the ICC president, whatever I have to say I will say it in next meeting. It could happen that maybe I will resign."
